The Old Clinton Historical Society (OCHS) was formed in 1974 to preserve, protect, and enhance the unique character of the Old Clinton Historic District for the education, appreciation, and enjoyment of present and future generations.  In so doing, we own and maintain a number of historic structures and sites in Clinton that are open to the public on the first weekend of May for our annual Old Clinton War Days, and occasionally for other special events and school tours.

But at any time, you are welcome to stroll or drive the quiet streets of Clinton to enjoy the charm of the early architecture and greenspaces.  The past is still visible here, little disturbed by commercial development.  Before you visit, click on Tour Guides for a printable brochure or an in-depth historical guide and tour, Directions for how to get to Clinton, and Gallery to see historic photos of people, structures, and scenes of Old Clinton.  For additional information re Clinton’s history and  current OCHS projects, click on More about Clinton and check out our Facebook page.

Clinton is one of seven sites on Georgia’s Antebellum Trail and one of three sites in Jones County on the March to the Sea Heritage Trail.  It is a Georgia Historic Heartland Travel Destination and also is easily accessible from Jones County’s Ocmulgee-Piedmont Scenic Byway whose southern trail head is in Gray, less than a mile away from Clinton.

Please join us in preserving and maintaining the Old Clinton Historic District by becoming a member and volunteer.  OCHS is a a 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation, and dues and contributions are tax deductible.  Members receive mailings concerning upcoming events and an annual newsletter updating members on our activities, current projects, and future plans.
